Nobody told Petra and she would like a word with whoever was responsible for that omission. The adulting arrived all at once and it has not let up and Petra is managing it on a nutritional foundation of Doritos and Red Bull which is not ideal but is what’s available at the current operational tempo. Somewhere in the back of her mind is a summer… endless, unscheduled, someone else handling the logistics… and the child version of herself is in it doing absolutely nothing and not appreciating it even slightly which Petra now finds genuinely painful to think about. She would go back and shake her. She cannot go back. She has to go to work. She grabs another Red Bull. She steps up to the plate. Again.
