Pence has done the risk assessment for the camping trip and it took several days and is not finished. The bears have been considered. The weather has been monitored. The tent situation has been reviewed and found wanting in ways his buddies have assured him are not an issue which Pence has noted and disagreed with privately. He knows it will probably be fine… he knows this logically, in the part of his brain that does logic… but disaster has a way of lurking in corners that other people aren’t watching and Pence is watching all the corners. All of them. Someone has to. His buddies are going to have a great time entirely because Pence has pre-worried every possible scenario into submission. They don’t know this. Pence accepts that.
